I drove down to Washington DC for work and coming back felt like a weird homecoming. Weird because, well, we were supposed to come home to DC after Barcelona, but the pandemic has made it easier to keep our home base in Sea Cliff for now.
I put on a tie for the first time in months and I did my work stuff (quite successfully, I might add). The halls of the State Department are definitely empty right now. But my badge still works!
The highlight of my trip was scheduling two socially-distanced hangouts with the United Friends, my forever-community in DC. It was wonderful.
Know what's not wonderful? Traffic in the New York metro area after driving five hours from DC.
